Kent Probation is committed to delivering high quality services to local communities.• Annually we carry out nearly 275,000 hours of Community Payback for charities, councils, schools and communtiy groups in Kent. At national minimum wage, this was worth £1.5 million to the local area. Work by Community Payback teams include making vast improvemetns to community facilities, the environment, public buildings, open spaces and local neighbourhoods.• We run the Community Domestic Abuse Programme a multi-agency approach to reducing the the incidence of domestic violence. Innovatively, the programme allows men to voluntarily refer themselves to a programme if they are concerned about their abusive behaviour towards their partner. • Kent Probation delivers the Private Drink Drive Programme. We also run alcohol awareness courses for individuals subject to Drink Banning Orders. They are designed to protect the community from a specific range of behaviour that is associated with an individual’s alcohol misuse.
Community Engagement• We offer two free interactive community presentations for groups to help raise awareness of our work and the effectiveness of community sentences• Kent Probation encourages members of the public to suggest work for offenders on Community Payback.• We attend Open Court Days, Community Safety Days and attend other annual events including Maidstone Mela. Kent Probation is keen to get out into the community. If you are organising an event and would like us to come along call our Communications Officer on 01622 350858 or email her at Michelle.Boulden@Kent.Probation.gsi.gov.uk
