The Justice Awards give staff and volunteers the opportunity to nominate their colleagues, helping them receive the recognition they deserve for their exceptional achievements. We are finalists in the categories of- Volunteer of the year- Work with offenders- Partnership of the yearDevelopment and Outstanding Contribution AwardKent Probation’s Local Crime: Community Sentence (LCCS) project involves pairings of magistrates and probation staff giving interactive presentations which demonstrate the effectiveness of community sentences as an alternative to prison. Feedback captured during the presentations adds to the weight of evidence showing that, given more information and a greater understanding about crime, sentencing options and probations effectiveness, the public is far less punitive than generally believed. The Kent team won the Development and Outstanding Contribution Award for its work in assisting in the expansion of the project nationally. For the past two years, Kent has been one of the top performing LCCS areas helping to provide critical evidence of the national potential of LCCS. Kent continues to be innovative when delivering presentations to new audiences and has been central to the development of the project.
